| บทคัดย่อโครงการ | Efficient logistics management and transportation control play a pivotal role in cost reduction and enhancing the overall efficiency of transportation systems. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the factors influencing seasonal fruit farmers' adoption of rail transportation and to analyze the developmental factors of the Southern Distribution Center in Thungsong to facilitate rail transportation of seasonal fruits. A mixed-methods research design was employed. A sample of 250 seasonal fruit farmers was randomly selected and surveyed using a questionnaire with a reliability index ranging from 0.60 to 1.00. Descriptive statistics, including percentages, means, and standard deviations, were utilized for data analysis. Additionally, two focus group discussions were conducted-one involving six market intermediaries and the other comprising three distribution center operators. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, ensuring an item-objective congruence (IOC) index of over 0.50 per item, and the interview data were subjected to content analysis. The findings of this research underscored financial flow as the paramount supporting factor for farmers, who perceived cost-effectiveness through factors such as variable costs, short-distance transportation via trucks, diverse distribution channels, streamlined procedures, short sales cycles, premium prices relative to local markets, and advanced price notifications through online channels. Furthermore, four pivotal areas for development were identified to bolster rail transportation: 1) infrastructure enhancement encompassing internal structure, rail transportation, warehouse systems, and information technology; 2) enhancement of communication efficiency; 3) user capability augmentation through subcontracting services; and 4) establishment of a double-track railway system for freight transportation. These factors are deemed imperative for fostering rail transportation at the Southern Distribution Center, Thungsong, to cater to market and consumer needs effectively.
